2008 Summer Comp

2008 Summer Comp Grand final

The Division 1 Grand Final came down to the 2 favourites after the Tigers had taken care of Flair Crew 9-2 and X Men 9-3 and the Eels had disposed of Cunning stunts and Cellar Dwellers 9-5.

After the first quarter the Eels were 4 zip up and odds on for the premiership then Credo and Gavin Hansen got them on the scoreboard but when Brent read took out Credo to make it 6-3 the Eels were still favourites. The next 5 games went the Tigers way and they went to 8-6 in the first to 9 event. Rob Pleming took out Paulie Bacon and it was left to a carbon copy of the 2007 Spring Grand Final with Watty vs Micky Allan, Watty playing for the win Mikey playing to take it into a 3 man playoff. Same result as 2007 and the the tigers were victorious and Premiers for the Summer comp of 2008.

Both teams will be competing in the Spring comp starting on the 21st July but with different players in their teams.

DIVISION 2

The division 2 Grand Final came down to the top 2 teams in the home and away series Bruns Boys and TT Rebels, Bruns Boys via Farcue 9-6 and Coolie Renos while TT Rebels got there via 9-2 and Jaggers 9-2.

The Final itself was close throughout with 2 all at quarter time then the Bruns Boys pinched a 3-1 2nd quarter and the TT Rebels couldn?t peg them back and eventually went down 9-5. Don Flannigan 4 from 4 was their standout, with Nestor Yanco and Kenny Porter 3 from 4 not far behind. Bruns Boys were worthy Premiers after narrowly missing out on Division 1.

Ok another Grand Final day completed. A bit of a squeeze but we have a change of format for the next finals in December to alleviate the squeeze and the time factor. We plan to play the 2 divisions on seperate days, each game to compete on tables. We live and learn.

It was a good day and I will run through the teams and their performances later. The first disappointment of the day was Dazed and Confused being forfeited, their game was called and they had 15 minutes to present themselves, we waited for 30 minutes and no show so we had to forfeit them. As it was that put us way behind right from the start. Not the way we wanted to start after Watty, Geoffrey and myself had walked into the room at 8.00am and found the venue not cleaned from a function the night before. Glasses and tables and chairs and rubbish everywhere. Two hours later we had 9 tables ironed levelled and ready to go and not a thing out of place. Not the perfect start for the 3 of us, knackered before game 1. So all players on the day should be in appreciation of the efforts that go on behind the scenes on the day and throughout the year and have a little think before putting mouths into gear critisising. So my thanks go out to Watty, Geoffrey, Irene , Greg Dingle and all those that turn up early and put in, for all their efforts behind the scenes that keep our game running smoothly.

Just a word of warning preceding the NSW singles and Open playoffs, the rules are simple, pay up by 9.30am on the morning of the events or you don?t play. No exceptions you can pay early no problems. On the day keep and eye on your position in the draw, when your game comes up you will be called to the table, you have 15 minutes to present yourself, after 15 minutes you lose a frame every 2 minutes. after 29 minutes your game will be forfeited. eg if you present after 22 minutes you will have lost 4 frames in the races to 8. So the balls are in the players courts no pay on time no play. Late for any match you lose frames untill you forfeit completely after 29 minutes. It is simple and will be enforced.

Well it is now on to the Grand Final day on the 29th June at the Coolangatta Hotel 10.00 start. Cunning Stunts will play Farcue at the Coolie hotel on Monday 23rd June on 2 tables. The result of that game will have a minor effect on the ladder. $7190 in prizemoney will be distributed on the day with the Div 1 winner pocketing a cool $2k. Not bad for a 17 week comp. The spring comp will commence on July 20th so have your team ready to register on Grand Final day. PS Round 1 catch up game played last night,Cunning Stunts beat Farcue 10-6 to move into 7th on the ladder Flair Crew slip to 8th. Farcue stay the same.

Minor premiers the Tigers coming off a loss against the X Men last night will play Cunning Stunts (who were smashed by Splinters Revenge last night 14-2), if the stunters lose or draw next Monday against Farcue or Flair Crew (lost to Cellar Dwellers 9-7) if they win. Prediction: Would probably rather play Flair Crew with Mel Malone off to England with the national team. Probably too strong for Flair Crew minus Mel but against a full strength Cunning Stunts they would still be favourites but not by much.

Second placed Eels (big winners vs the Bruns Boys last night) are facing the same scenario as the Tigers again look a tad strong for Flair Crew but against a full strength Cunning stunts that is a different ball game. Will be looking for Farcue to cause an upset next week. Eels favourites over Flair Crew but slight odds on with a full strength Cunning Stunts.

My boys the Cellar Dwellers will front up against a rampant Splinters Revenge after we beat Flair Crew and they smashed Cunning Stunts. Nothing in this game and it is the most open of the round. Even money bet. Poppy vs Dean, Greenie vs Damo, Mr Bean vs Donny, Willie or Kingsley vs Geoff, all to hard to predict. A ripper of a game. The winner capable of taking out the Grand Final.

Sea Masters have over achieved this season and to finish 5th was a terrific and they come up against X Men, with the X Men beating the Minor Premiers the Tigers last night you would have to favour the X Men but the Sea Masters had a massive win as well, but the X Men narrowly for mine.

The 4 winners will advance to the semi finals with the losers playing off for 5th to 8th.

My prediction the Cellar Dwellers for premiers. (of course).

Division 2 will see a knockout for 7th and 8th spot played with 7th playing 10th and 8th playing 9th. The winners going on with the losers playing off for 9th and 10th spot. With Farcue still to play Cunning Stunts a few scenarios are possible but the teams in the playoffs will be Live Wires, Farcue, Hustlers and Dazed and Confused with the order to be decided next Monday.

Bruns Boys who were belted last night by the Eels and fell away a bit in the later part of the season will play the team finishing 8th probably between Dazed and Confused and Live Wires. Bruns Boys would have to go in as favourites but not by much on their latest form.

TT Rebels who drew with Live Wires last night will front probably Farcue or Hustlers and would be slight favourites in both cases but they have under acheived this year and will need to get more consistent to grab the title.

Judes Jaggers and Steves Heavyweights will be interesting as they are both in form. Lean to the better sorts in tight situations so Judes Jaggers get the nod, albeit narrowly.Sorry Mel.

Last but not least Coolie Renos take on Tarns Boys and with Dene Heremaia playing they just get the nod but if Tarns Boys can get a couple of frames off him they will be half way to winning this.

The 4 winners will advance to the semi finals with the losers playing off for 5th to 8th.

My prediction TT Rebels for Div2 premiers but any of the teams would not be a suprise.

TEAM OF THE WEEK: X Men for beating the minor premiers the Tigers and putting big doubts into the division 1 premiership race.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK. Judy from the Jaggers and Paul Seidel for TT Rebels for finally getting 4 from 4 and the biscuits.

NAME AND SHAME LIST: Coolie Renos who will pay at the Dolphins Hotel $200 comp tonight (every Tuesday) and Dazed and confused are one week in arrears. ps Coolie Renos still haven?t paid. Paid up now.

Round 16.

One round to go after last night but with a week off next week for City country and Wintersun.

Baring a huge upset by the Bruns Boys in the last round the top 8 is set but positional changes can change big time.

The Flair Crew shut the door on Div 2 finally with a hard fought win over the Captains TT Rebels who kept them honest but couldn?t quite pick them up from 8-3 down but fought hard to just miss a draw. The Flair Crew all scored doubles (skipper Wayne excluded with one) while the Rebels all scored doubles except for Mark Morrison with one. Flair Crew top 8 TT Rebels Div 2 for this season. Flair Crew 9 TT Rebels 7.

We took on the league leaders Wattys Tigers and got 2 nil up early but the boys were taught a lesson that giving 2 shots away while running the white is a recipe for disaster. I got 3 out of our 4 which leaves 1 out of 12 for the rest. That is their bad night gone for the season (I hope). Watty, Paul Bacon, and Northy were 100% on the night with masters to Paulie and Watty. Nothing was at stake and the Tigers will be minor premiers and we get 3rd. Tigers 12 Cellar Dwellers 4.

Live Wires had a walkover with Dazed and Confused getting rained in. Both are in the Div 2 final.

Sea Masters needed to stand up after last weeks belting and they sure did and belted the Heavyweights and are assured of a top 8 finish. Heavyweights play of in Div2 finals. Pedro scored albut one of his teams score. All the Sea Masters shot 3 from 4. Sea Masters 12 Heavyweights 4.

Another one sided game saw X Men albut confirm 4th spot and Tarns Boys  in Div 2. Callum on fire last week was not in the same form but Tarn kept her win a night record intact. Terry Al and Deano all shot 100%. X Men 13 Tarns Boys 3.

The Hustlers put the shivers through the Eels early at 3-1 up but that was it for the night as Brents Eels confirm 2nd spot and the Hustlers Viv 2. Fisho and Barry King got doubles for the Hustlers with Trent and Brent in for trebles for the Eels. Eels 10 Hustlers 6.

The Bruns Boys slippery slide out of the top 8 continued when they couldn?t hold out Donny Spinters Revenge who confirmed a top 8 spot with the Bruns Boys having to massacre the eels to sneak into the top 8. Nestor got a double and for Splinters Geoff Watson and Deam McDonald shot 100%. Splinters Revenge 13 Bruns Boys 3.

Dene Heremaia is back and the Coolie Renos are winning again but too late to get into the top 8. While Farcue with 2 games in hand are Div 2 finalists. Another lop sided game with Rosscoe and Dene shooting 100%. All the Farcue boys got a game each. Coolie Renos 12 Farcue 4.

Judes Jaggers are playing as well as anyone but have left their run at the top 8 too late. Their draw tith the Cunning stunts have put Newcastles lads on wood for a top 4 position. It?s possible but will be hard work. They are assured of top 8 honours though. Annie was outstanding with 4 from 4 and winning the final game against Wayne Randall to force the draw. Judy and Stinger grabbed doubles for the Jaggers. Ben Collins the best for Cunning Stunts with a trbles. Jaggers 8 Cunning Stunts8.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK:Not many candidates this week and Anne Mclauchlan gets the chocolates this week for her 4 from 4.

TEAM OF THE WEEK: Bit skinny here so it goes to the Jaggers for drwing with top 4? side Cunning stunts and fighting it right out to the wire.

NAME AND SHAME LIST: 5 teams I missed this week, Que will bank hers the rest I will get in a fortnight, Dazed, Eels, Live wires and Bruns Boys.

No pool next Monday good luck to all at City Country.

Round 15:

Getting closer and a few hands are starting to tighten on their butts already, a night full of suprises proven by 2 times division 2 premiers Flair Crew jumping from 9th to 5th in one hit.

Our game with Tarns Boys at Twin Towns looked pretty easy on the scorecard but a couple off rolls went our way when we needed it. Birthday boy from Sunday Callum Wade played outstanding pool for 4 wins on a losing side while Peter Passett must have run over a black cat such was his night. Willie and Kingsley got 6 from 8 between them leaving the other 5 to me and Mr bean. We jump to second place and face the ladder leaders the Tigers next week at Twin Towns come along and see some tight poo. :Cellar Dwellers 11 Tarns Boys 5.

The Captains TT Rebels looked like they might cause a boilover when they led Wattys Tigers 6-4 but they let a couple of easy games slip and by the time the Captain and Watty played off in the last it was all over red rover with the Tigers holding on to top spot (and will finish on top) and the Rebels with a fair bit of work to do to grab 8th spot.: Tigers 10 TT Rebels 6.

A 3 man Dazed and Confused were never going to have enough fire power for the full strength Flair Crew (Irene taped Big Brother and turned up) and so it proved with the Flair Crew jumping to 5th spot and leaving their fate in their own hands. Flair Crew 13 Dazed and Confused 3.

X Men have come good with a vengance and took apart Sea Masters in what was a danger game for them. They are in 4th spot while the sea Masters have slipped to 7th and on dangerous ground. X Men 13 Sea Masters 3.

Dene Heremaia made a return from the sticks and what a difference one player can make. Against top 4 contenders Cunning Stunts (albeit playing with a substitute for Jason Kyranis) they pinched games throughout and when it came down to Min to win or Newcastle to draw in the last the big money was on Newc (despite his 0 from 3 on the night up until then) but the bookies won again as player of the match Min Heremaia got Newc and put Cunning Stunts on notice for the top 4. Coolie Renos have shot their bolt as far as the top 8 are concerned but with Dene around will be hard to beat in Division 2. Coolie Renos 9 Cunning stunts 7.

Now for the the upsets and near disasters. Splinters Revenge who had put themselves in the top 8 for the first time of the season almost blew it again versus Judes Jaggers courtesy of Judes brilliant 4 from 4. 6-3 up Donnys lads were loud and in party mode but 4 games later it was 6-7 and the party was like a wake. Greenie got lucky, then Stinger put the Jaggers in the box seat but alas for the Jaggers Geoff Watson rolled Annie and they pinched a draw and hold on to 8th spot by 3 games on %. Jaggers are pushing for a top 4 finish in Division 2.

Fisho called me for a sub as they were short and I got them "super Sub" (sounds like a big Pizza concoction) Greg Dingle and drafted in newcomer Michael Boehm (3 wins) and they guide the bottom place Hustlers to their 2nd win of the season and off the bottom of the ladder and pushed the Bruns Boys out of the top 8 (by 3 games on %). 2all 4all 6all the Bruns Boys couldn?t pinch a draw as only Kenny Porter got the money in the last set and it may well prove costly to them in the final analysis. Hustlers off the bottom and Bruns Boys out of the top 8. Hustlers 9 Bruns Boys 7.

In a battle for bragging right in div 2 the much improved Farque looked the goods at 7-5 vs Live Wires minus Jessica Woods but they failed to reckon on the Woodies fighting family spirit and after son Daniel had made sure of a draw dad Peter produced a stunning pot out to nail the win and bragging rights. Live Wires 9 Farcue 7.

Finally the upset of the round. In a mighty team effort the Heavyweights fought back against premiership favourites after looking down and out in Beverly Hills at 7-5 down, but Pedro and steve G gabbed wins then Trent who wasn?t having the best of nights got the eels to 8 on the hill and with Brent Read playing Mel Cassar it was $1.02 the Eels and $18.98 the Heavyweights but Mel played beautifully and put the black in the hole and Brent in a no out position, actually a no nothing situation and she got the chocolates (sugar free of course) and a super draw. Heavyweights 14th Eels slip to 3rd. Heavyweights 8 Eels 8.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: Plenty to choose from but locals "super sub" Greg Dingle for his 4 from 4 for the Hustlers, Birthday boy Callum Wades' stunning 4 from 4 against us and for a 2nd time (first time is still under investigation) Mel Cassar for taking out out Mickey Allan and in the final game Brent Read to gain a super draw for the Heavyweights.

TEAMS OF THE WEEK: Hustlers, Heavyweights, X Men, Flair Crew, Coolie Renos, Live Wires, take your pick they all played above themselves and got good results.

NAME AND SHAME LIST: Only Jack Malone but Irene kicked in for him and paid their team fees in full.

Round 14:

Firstup don?t forget the 4th NSW playoffs at Coolie Hotel on Suday.

Well we have 3 playing night to go leading into out Grand Final Day and only the top 2 spots are set. We had a night of upsets and near upsets.

May as well start with our game, we played the Sea Masters in a game that was vital to bith sides. We junped them early at 3-1 but seriously lost out way with some ?orrible pool tnaks mainly to myself who was the biggest culprit and at 4all then 6all it looked like we had let a top 4 position slip but Willie, me and the King got us home albeit with more luck than skill. So we look near certainties to run 3rd and the Sea Masters are =5th. Cellar Dwellers 9 Sea Masters 7.

On the other table I looked at the score early and it was 3 all between the Captains Twin Towns Rebels and Tarns boys. Next time I looked it was 9-3 to the TT Rebels and they had kept their slim homes of a top 8 finish alive. All the Rebels won 3 from 4 thats consitency while all the Tarns Boys got 1 each (except Brownie with zip) consistent as well. TT Rebels 12 Tarns Boys 4.

Vikki and Judy locked horns at Coolie and the difference was Stinger held his hand up for the first time of the season and knocked in all of his 4 games a welcome return to form. Stace and Jude got doubles while foe Que?s team Rosscoe got a double and Min 100% with 2 from 2. Jaggers 9 Coolie Reno?s 7.

In contrast to Stinger, Silver had the worst night of his season with zip against the resurgent Eels and X Men couldn?t cover his efforts. All his team mates got doubles while for the Eels Brent shot 4 and Mickey 3 to ensure a top 2 finish with the X Men 4 but with a dodgey % and a tough draw are no good things for a top 4 possie. Eels 10 X Men 6.

Cunning stunts kept a top 4 position a real possibility alive with a work man like trouncing of the Woodies Live Wires. Jonny and his dad Peter got doubles but Newcastle came good again with 4 and Ben 3 to climb to =6th with a game in hand and coming home hard. Cunning stunts 11 Live wires 5.

Bruns Boys let slip a vluable chance to be =5th when they dropped a point to the battling Heavyweight at Coolie. After leadind 3-1 early it was alll touch and go after that at 4all 6all 8all can?t get closer. Once again Peter Paynter was best with 3 along with Wild Bill making sure he qualifies for the finals finding form with 3 as well. Pedro 3 was their best as Steve G and Shawn pinched the last 2 to grab the draw. Bruns Boys slip to 7th and are only 2 points clear of the Rebels in 10th so that lost point could be vital to their season. Bruns Boys 8 Heavyweights 8.

For the first time in the season Splinters Revenge forced themselves into the 8 at the expense of Fishos Hustlers. The difference was Dean McDonald back in the side with 4 from 4. Geoff Watson was good with 3 with Donny and Greenie getting doubles and now they are in the 8 they will be hard to get out. Sticks was the only multiple winner for the Hustlers. Splinters Revenge 11 Hustlers 5.

The Tigers kept their grip on the minor premieship spot with a predictable win over Dazed and Confused in a game played in great spirit. Newcomer for Dazed Peter didn?t win a game but put himself in a winning position in each frame and hopefully will play on next season "Pinball wizard Watty" and Paulie got 8 from 8 and they will finish in top spot barring a tsunami. Tigers 13 Dazed and Confused 3.

That leaves the upset of the round left. Maybe Flair Crew are aiming at their third straight Division 2 pennant. They slipped to =8th when they slipped up to Farcue who are playing as a team  and showing the results on the scoreboard. The Crew were never in control and Toy Bancroft had his best night out with 4 from 4 (and a bottle of Bourbon) finished with the black of the season (after missing the easiest black of the season earlier in the game mind you) against Mel in the game that turned it all around. Rod and Scotty got doubles for Farcue with Mel 3 the only bright light for the Crew (Twin bother Jack did get a double I better add) and they are in a dubious position on the ladder with 3 to play as Farcue build momentum. Farcue 9 Flair Crew 7.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: Troy for sure for Farcue, Stinger for Jaggers and Newcasle for X Men all for shooting 4 from 4.

NAME AND SHAME LIST: Missed 2 teams last night all good.

Round 12: Don't forget May Day long weekend and Hervey Bay Comp this coming week, so have a rest next monday and see you in a fortnight.

Wow it just gets better and better, the undefeated Eels and hot favourites for the flag get belted and 5th 6th and 7th spot is shared by 3 teams with the same wins, same draw,s and 104 winning frames each. God help me if that was the last round. Ok down to business it was easier to get a wrap on the games this week playing at coolie as there are 5 games at the same venue.

May as well start with the upset of the season with the Captain's TT Rebels ending the Eels 11 game winning streak and in easy fashion as it turned out. The 2 skippers started out and the Captain pulled Brent's pants down and that set the scene. 2 all 5-3 then it was 5all and it looked same old same old as the eels slipped into gear but it was only a momentary glimpse of form as the Rebels pinched 5 of the last 6 and kept there top 8 chances alive, a game and a half out but with a good percentage. Eels slip to 2nd by a frame. How close is everything. To be fair to both teams they really had some tight game over the night and the difference was the Captain getting all 4 and Paul stepping up to the plate with 3 when needed. Rob must have been knackered from taking the Brady bunch to Casino the previous day to play in the NSW try outs but the Eels big guns Brent and Mickey and pop gun Trent all shooting only 50% told the other side of the story. Pity we have them next round when they will be all fired up. TT Rebels 10 Eels6.

The other top of the table shoot out was my lads 3rd and the flying Bruns Boys 4th getting down and dirty. We flew the boxes and at 6-2 were getting a bit cocky, not for long but the bruns Boys knuckled down and won 5 of the next 6 (with me getting real lucky against Nestor our only win) to draw level at 7all. Damo got a bit lucky against Nestor and then Kenny pulled a great pot out against me but lipped the black and I got lucky again to get the money but in all fairness a draw was probably the fair result. However 2 points to the good guys. Pete and Don got 5 between them while Damo and my good self aided by a tad of luck got 6 from 8 and we have some breathing space in 3rd spot. The Bruns Boys are =5th in a real tight fight for the top 8 spots. Cellar Dweelers 9 Bruns Boys 7.

Sea Masters are in with a sniff for the top 8 and were too strong for Dazed and Confused but Garret for the losers had his best night out of the year and pocketed 3 from his teams 4 wins a top effort. Handy Andy back from his jaunt to NT shot 100% while Jeff 3 Kerry 2 Peter Raus 2 And Dennis 2 from 2 all chipped in for the sea Masters and they keep their dream alive in =5th spot. Sea Masters 12 Dazed and Confused 4.

Tarns Boys (alas Tarn had her first losing night for a while) and Far Cue were nip and tuck right the way through but at 7-5 it looked like Far cue had the momentum to get the points but Tarns Boys dug deep and James, Peter P, with Callum stormed home to snatch a draw and deny Scottys boys a record breaking 3rd win fotr the season. They both looked destined to play each other again on Grand Final day however. James and Callum got 3 for Tarns Boys while Rod Pain continued his fine form with 3 and Scotta and troy got doubles Gary had a rare shocker for Far Cue. Tarns Boys 8 Far Cue 8.

The joint leaders Wattys Tigers had a fairly easy time of it against Newcastles Cunning stunts on the score sheet with 3-1 6-2 8-4 10-6 with Watty 4 (who suprisingly landed his first master of the season) and Northy 3 leading from the front while Wayne suffered the Casino curse and only Mickey grenn and Newc getting doubles. Puts the Tigers on top by a Frame and News lads 8th but with a winnable game in hand so probably in a four way tie for 5th. Tigers 10 Cunning stunts 6.

Flair Crew were 3 zip down in a heartbeat against Judes Jaggers but in another blink had it back to 3all then blew it to got down 3-5 then back to 5all. It was all happening in groups but after 6all they got it together and ran out 3 of the last 4 to get the points and =5th, while the Jaggers rue another one that just got away, no Casino curse for the Jaggers with Jude and Annie getting 5 of their 7 while the Flair Crew partners Moo and Wayne led the way with 6 of their 9 with Irene tucked up at home choosing Big Brother over pool slack. Flair Crew 9 Jaggers 7.

The X Men have been cruising along in the comp but were pushed hard by Fisho's Hustlers and a second quarter fade out of 4 zip being the difference all the other quarters were shared 2all. The X Men have moved into the top 4 and are looking good with Skipper Terry 4 and Silver 3 leading the way for the winners. While Kym and Barry King kept up their fine form with doubles with Fisho out of the hospital bed again still playing well and Skicks back they only have that second quarter fade out to rue on the night. X Men 10 Husters 6.

Que's Coolie Renos led by Min are really struggling with Deano working in the Hunter and were in the end lucky to share the points with the Woodies Live Wires and have dropped their slim chance of a top 8 finish. Ed filled in for the Renos and had a great night with 3 (and should push his way back into his team the X Men on that form) as did Josh who took out daddy Woods Peter to share the points after Kristie and Daniel had got them to the hill first, Rossco chipped in with 2 but Min suffering from Jessica syndrome had a bitch of a night. The girls Kristie 3 from 3 and Jessica 2 did all the work but the boys couldn?t pick up the slack for the Live Wires and a draw it was. Coolie Reno's 8 Live Wires 8.

A 2nd quarter fade out by the Heavyweights (4 zip and minus player of the week Mel) was the difference between chocolates and boiled lollies for the against Donny's Splinter Revenge and keeps the Splinters mob in reach of the 8 with a handy run home but ther will need Deano back. Pedro and the Geraghty boys all with doubles tried hard but the g's Graham and Greenie had them covered with trebles. Splinters Revenge 4 points and a minor % out of the 8 with 5 games to go, Hmm will be interesting. Splinters Revenge 9 Heavyweights 7.

Team of the week:

No brainer here the Captand Rebels who played out of their skins to nail the previously undefeated Eels 10-6.

Great effort boys and keeps their top 8 chances alive.

Players of the week: Jesus where to start, Garret superb with 3 Kristie 3 from 3, Andy 3 from 3, and the Captain leading from the front with 4, Terry Jones with 4 where to stop. All super efforts and well done to you all I couldn't split it.

NAME AND SHAME LIST: Blank again. This is all too much for the old man.

Round 11

A reminder that the 3rd NSW ranking tournament will be held at Casino NSW on Sunday 10.00am start. Venue Oxford Hotel, see you there.

Ok down to business Underbelly has finished so no distractions tonight. My boys started of against Fisho?s Hustlers and we lent them Kingsley for the last half when he got there as they were one short and are looking for a player for the rest of the season, any takers give me a bell. We always had the jump on them but Barry King was great with 3 and Kym Hondo played well and 1 win was not a true indication of his form. The King for them belted Mr Bean to prove a point while Damo (pictured) and I got through 7 out of 8. Keeps us in 3rd with a tough run home. Cellar Dwellers 11 Hustlers 5.

The Sea Masters with a sniff of the top 8 were up for it against the improving Farcue and 6-2 in both halves says it all. Garry(2), Troy, and Rod got the wins for Farcue while Jeff Peters and Dennis Watt shot 4 from 4 and look good as the masters play off sneaks up. The Sea Masters ar now a clear 8th with a game and a half in hand. Sea Masters 12 Farcue 4.

X Men continue there climb up the ladder and The Heavyweights couldn?t stop the ascent. 3-1 5-3 8-4 10-6 it was always comfortable for the X Men, Terry and Al with trebles and Silver and Dean W had doubles. Mark G is flying for the Heavyweights while the best effort of the round was Mel Cassar who was subbed in and won both games against Dean and Silver, that insulin pump must be working best I get one to, it might help. X Men into 5th spot a point out of the top 4. X Men 10 Heavyweights 6.

Splinters Revenge were in serious danger of missing the top 8 and still are but at least they are heading in the right direction again after snuffing out the Live Wires minus Daniel. The girls starred for Live Wires with Jess and Kristy getting 3 of their 4 wins while all the Splinters boys Deano, Geoff, Donny, and Greenie (pictured) shot trebles to keep the dream alive. Spinters 10th 2 games out of the 8 but with a handy run home. Splinters Revenge 12 Live Wires 4.

Jude?s Jaggers did it tough against Watty?s Tigers although when Stinger took out Credo it was 5-4 and a serious contest but they couldn?t kick on and lost the next 5 until Annie took care of Paulie but it was to late the damage had ben done. Judy and Annie got doubles with Watty taking his four and trebles to Paulie and Mr North to keep the Tigers comfortable in 2nd spot and the Jaggers with work to do in =12th. Tigers 11 Jaggers 5.

The Coolie Reno?s led by a back in form Que(2 wins) squared 3 quarters with Flair Crew 2 all but let themselves down in the 2nd quarter losing all 4 and lossing touch with the top 8. While Flair Crew are quietly going about their businessin 6th spot. Moo Malone (pictured)was the shining light again with all 4 and is looking in good form for her England trip with the Aussie ladies any sponsors out there to help defray her huge costs give me a call 0403 945678. Wayne and Irene picked up doubles while for the Renos Vikki Que 2 found form but Rossco was their best with a treble. Flair Crew 10 Coolie Reno?s 6.

Tarns Boys kept up there improved form but just found Cunning Stunts a little to strong, 2all 5-3 7-5 it was close but the Stunters closed out the next 3 and have got themselves into =6th with a gme in handwhile Tarns Boys are 11th but still an outside chance of the 8. Ben Collins got away from his usual 50% and was the difference with 100% on the night. The other lads Wayne, Newc and Jas got doubles. (about the same score as Newc footy tipping). Tarn kept here winning record intact while Brownie 2 from 3 and Peter Passet 2 were Tarns best. Cunning Stunts 10 Tarns Boys 6.

Dazed and Confused had the unevitable job of taking on the undefeated Eels and were always going to do it hard. They tried hard and would have learnt a lot but only Garret and Jagger could take a frame. Brent, last weeks player of the week Trent and Mickey never lost a frame between them and they remain firm favourites for the flag, but in pool anything can happen. Eels 14 Dazed and Confused 2.

last but not least the rampant Bruns Boys with Kenny holiday and Wild Billy Crompton making his long awaited come back took on TT Rebels without the Captain, The Bruns Boys won the first 3 frames then it was nip and tuck after that with the Rebels never able to make up the lost early ground. 8-6 was the closest but Nestor and Mark Richardson closed it out and put the Bruns Boys firmy in 4th spot and a date with us next week to fight out 3rd and 4th. The Rebels are 9th a game and a half out of the 8 but still a live chance. Mark and Nestor with trebles and doubles to Pete and Wild Bill capped off a consistent night fot the Bruns Boys. Mark Morrison and Rod with doubles were the best for the TT Rebels. Bruns Boys 10 TT Rebels 6.

Players of the week: Two great 100% efforts from Ben Collins from 4 and Mel Cassar from 2 were the best of the round. well done to you both that is great pool.

Team of the week: Has to go to the Bruns Boys as they keep turning up and winning and forcing themselves up the ladder.

NAME AND SHAME LIST: Nil again, my therapist is getting worried that I haven?t been to see him. You guys keep paying and I won?t have to either.

ROUND 10.

Before I do a brief summary of round 10 just a reminder that Gold Coast City is having City Country try outs at Snooker World on Sunday 20th April this Sunday for those who have trouble with dates 10.00 start. $20 entry fee see me or Mark Morrison on the day. Also their is no Monday night league on the 5th May due to a public holiday and the Hervey Bay comp being on.

Ok down to business and this will be quick I want to finish before Underbelly starts in half an hour. The eels carried on their merry winning way but had a few touchy moments with Farcue before they finally got over the top of them. 2all 5-3 8-4 it was the closest the Eels have had for a while. Scot and Rod had doubles for Farcue while Trent got zip for the Eels. That would be a first for the premiership favourites. Eels 10 Farcue 6.

My boys came away with the same score against the Heavy weights but under different circumstances after Damo giffted them the first game we won 10 straight the lost 5 straight. Lucky it finished when it did. Mr Bean and Wille (pictured)showed a glimpses of form with 3 and 2 and Mark Geraghty was their best with a couple and his finish to get me was good pool. Cellar Dwellers 10 Heavyweights 6.

Dazed and Confused were short staffed and the Bruns boys had debutant Mark Richardson and at 10 nil it was serious for the dazed lads butthey kicked back with 4 of the last 6 and gained some credence in their performance. Puts the Bruns Boysinto the top 4 and they are red hot. Dazed and Confused equal 14 a big improvement on the last cuople of seasons. Bruns Boys 12 Dazed and Confused 4.

Sticks made a come back for the Hustlers but for mine didn?t look interested and the Captains Rebels made them pay big time. 3-0 6-4 8-4 it was tooeasy. Big Bazza and Kym got doubles for the Hustlers while all the Rebeld scored well. Hustlers a point off the bottom and Rebels a point out of a close contest for the top 8. TT Rebels 11 Hustlers 5.

In what I thought would be a close match the X Men have struck form with a vengance and put away a disappointing Splinters Revenge easily. 3-1 5-3 8-4 10-6 Al Johnson got 4 and made up for a rare bad night for Silver who only nailed 1 Terry got 4 to carry on his good form. Deano and Donny got doubles for Splinters but they drop to 11th and 2 wins out of the 8 and are in atricky spot. X Men have jumped to 5th a poit out of the 4 and looking dangerous. X Men 10 Splinters Revenge 6.

An upset of sorts saw the Watt brothes put the sword to Newcs Cunning Stunts.3-1 then afight back to 4all at the long break and at 6all it was up for grabs 7all but Beagle and Kerry (pictured) held their nerve and came away with the win and pushed their way into 8th spot. with Cunning Stunts still there bit slipping to 7th albeit with agame in hand. Dennis is going well since he stopped sooking and came back with all 4. Pete Raus and Beagle chipped in with doubles. Newc, Wayno, and Ben all got doubles but needed more. A bit like Newcs footy tippimg needing more. Sea Masters 9 Cunning stunts 7.

Shit Underbelly is on back soon after some sex and mayhem. 3-0 up to the Jaggers and it looked same old same old for Tarns Boys but they bounced back hard the win 6 of the next 7 and put the skids under Jude and her team and tumbled them into equal 11th spot, while pushing their case for the top 8 to be only 2 and a half wins out 10th in  spot.Brownie came good late with 2 from 3, James held is form with 3 Callum and Peter P got doubles with Tania in winning form again. The girls did most of the scoring for the Jaggers with Annie 3 and Jude 2 Stinger got the other. Thanks to Jamie Kyranis for filling in for Judes team. Tarns Boys 9 Jaggers 7.

Coolie Renos without Dean Heremia were never really going to push the Tigers and so it turned out. 3-1 6-2 9-3 and a couple in the last set by the Renos put them down to equal 11th spot and plenty of work to do. While the tigers look set for a top 2 finish again.Josh and Rossco held their own with doubles and Min got one. What happened Que? Zip. Gavin lost a couple as did Mr Bacon with Watty and Credo (pictured) sharing the spoils with 7 between them.

Last but not least we saw the Flair Crew bounce into 6th spot against a far mor competitive Live wires crew. 2all, 5-3, 7-5 it wasn?t untill the last set that the Flair crew came good. With the Malone twins and former Cellar Dweller Irene Watt getting up to give Flair Crew plenty to look forward to in the last rounds. All the woodies Johnny, Daniel and Dad Peter got doubles with Jess playing they may have come close. All the Crew stood up and scored well.
Flair Crew 10 Live Wires 6.

Player of the week: Has to go to Trent Rodgers who broke a record for the Eels with zip from 4. Mickey doesn?t need to look over his shoulder yet.

Team of the week: Has to go to Farcue for holding the Eels to 10-6 in a giant improvement for them. Each season they are learning and improving.

Name and shame list: Nil phew going good guys and gals.

Footnote 13 teams are within 2 wins of the eight. How close is that. Tigers and Eels are lay down miseres for the top 2 positions but the rest are up for grabs. Good Stuff bring it on.

Round 9

Some very interesting results for round 9 have opened the ladder right up.

My lads helped open the ladder up against the X Men, we were in control until the third quarter when we all played like millionares and lost all 4. Willie played a blinder to get us back with a chance of a draw but my take control shot was an inch out and Dean W got me and the win. Greg Dingle and Terry Jones played super with Al and Dean chipping in fot the X Men while Damo was our only shinning light with 3. due ro a few strange results we stay 3rd and the X Men roar up the ladder into 6th. X Men 9 Cellar Dwellers 7.

The Bruns Boys are keeping the top 8 honest and cementrd their spot again with an easy win over the much improved Farque. Up 7-1 they lapsed a bit in the end but still got the points. Don, Nestor and Kenny all fired up with 3 with Skipper PP a bit short on practise (barred from the local for a month) for the Bruns Boys while Rod Pain and Gary with 2 each carried Farque on the night. Brun?s Boys 11 Farque 5

Nothing much to say about the Tigers and Live Wires the highlight being Jessica rolling Credo. Tigers 15 Live Wires 1.

Another lop sided games saw the Captains TT Rebels minus Rob belt The Heavyweights, Rod 4, Marko 3 Captain 3, Paul 2 all chipped in. Skipper Steve Geraghty was the only form runner for the Heavyweights with a double. TT Rebels 12 Hravyweights 4.

The Hustlers roared back into form courtesy of Dazed and Confused slipping back into old habits. 4 zip for the first and last quarters put the Hustlers into a unbeatable position. Jagger and Skipper Rod tried their best with doubles for the Dazed lot while all the Husters fired up with Barry King and Kym Hondo their best with 3 each. New comer Steve won his debut game a good effort Fisho and Mark Williams were good. Hustlers 11 Dazed and Confused 5.

A promised nail bitter between the Jaggers and the Sea Masters was all over at half time with the Sea Masters 7-1 up and cruising, the Jaggers fought back with the last 4 games but it was too little too late. Stacey and ann got doub;es for the Jaggers whilr all the Sea Masters shot good stats. Sea Masters 10 Jaggers 6.

In a minor upset Tarns Boys carried on the goos form after last weeks whitewash of Live Wires and added Coolie Reno?s to their hit list. The Reno?s were cruising at 6-3 but Tarns Boys turned it around with 6 straight wins and it was out of the 8 for Ques' cuests (private joke). Peter Passet shot 100% for the grinners and Josh 3 for the losers nasty result for the Renos. Tarns Boys 9 Coolie Renos 7.

Jason and Newc won the first 2 vs Eels but it was one way fraffic after that with the slippery Eels racking up 9 of the next 10 to bolt in. Jason 3 and Newcastle 2 got the lot for the Cunning Stunts while it was all shared for the Eels with a master to Mickey Allan. The Eels are still undefeated. Eels 11 Cunning Stunts 5.

Splinters Revenge were the favourites but no Greenie and the Flair Crew took advantage but it was still tight at 4all 6all then 6-7 but they got the last 3 and the chockies to stay in th top 8 and put Donnys lads into the bottom half. Donny did his best with 3 but the return from the sick bed of Mighty Moo Mel Malone was the winning move as she shot 100% and Twin brother Jack and partner Wayne were in the runs again with doubles. Onya Jack. Flair Crew 9 Splinters Revenge 7.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Australian ladies rep Mel Malone for climbing out of her sick bed to lift her team back into the top 8 with a dazzling display of precision 8 ball.

NAME AND SHAME LIST: Missed 2 teams all the rest financial.

Round 7

Computer problems so stats will not be updated until tomorrow.

After the 2nd NSW8ball tryouts on Sunday and a week off for easter it was good to get back into the swing of the teams comp.

My lads minus Willie who must still be in NZ took on Donnys Splinters Revenge team and although on paper the teams looked pretty even we ended up having a fairly easy time of it. Dean McDonald was their best by a mile with all 4 wins and they grabbed 2 more when it was all over but we were pretty pleased to get out of there with 2 points. Celler Dwellers 10 Splinters Revenge 6.

Wattys Tigers looked to be struggling a bit on the table next to ours at 3 all but 9 games later it was 12-3 and the Flair Crew (minus Mel with a stomach bug) had lost their flair again. Paulie Bacon got all 4 for the Tigers while Credo flushed with success after Manly won their first game of the season couldn?t carry it on to the pool table and only shot 2 from 4. Grant and Irene were the only Crew member to worry the scorers and got 2 from 4 as well. Jack couldn?t fire without the twin sister being there neither could the skipper. Get well Mel. Tigers still 2nd and the Crew in the 8 just. Tigers 12 Flair Crew 4.

After a bit of early drama which was sorted the Live Wires had the dubious distinction of being the first team ever to be white washed. 16 nil to Tarn?s Boys and 4 from 4 to the lovely Tarn shooting her best ever. Tarn?s Boys 16 Live Wires 0.

The Sea Masters roared into the top 8 for the first time in a minor upset over the Coolie Reno?s. Two factors here Dene Heremia away and Dennis Watt back was a huge swing for the Sea Masters. Close early at 2 all then all the other rounds were 3-1 results as it slipped away for the Reno?s. Dennis got all 4 and Kerry and Peter Raus 3 Beagle had a dismal night. Josh and Rosscoe did their bit with 2 each but the girls had bitches of nights. Both in the top 8, Reno?s by the skin of their teeth. Sea Masters 11 Coolie Reno?s 5.

Farque are really firing now with Gary M lifting them and they carried on their winning way ousting Fisho?s hustlers in a tight one. The Hustlers were 1-3 then 3-5 but came back to 6all and 7 all but Gary and Troy lifted for Farcue and they got the money. New recruit Barry King got 2 from 3 and Fisho 3 from 4 while Tomo cracked another win before she jet sets off for a couple of months later in the week. For the winners Gary got all 4 with Jeremy and Scott chipping in with doubles. Farcue 9 Hustlers 7.

The close ones continued with the Heavyweights and Dazed and Confused. 3-1, 5-3, 8-5 and it was hasta la vista to the Confused lot but wham bash wallop and the clawed their way back for a character building draw. The Geraghty bros got 3 each and Pedro flew the gates with his first 2 but fell away while Jagger starred for D&C with 3 and Skipper Rod 2 were assisted by Neil and first timer Jaden all sharing wins. Heavyweights 8 Dazed and Confused 8.

Another close tussle and a minor upset as the undefeated Cunning Stunts were pushed to the limit by the under rated Brun?s Boys who keep coming up with the results. Up 3-1, 5-3, back to 6all down 8-7 then Don stitched up Ben and another draw happened. Bruns Boys jump to 5th Cunning stunts still at 4th. Player of the week Peter P came back to earth but Nestor stepped up with Don and they both got 3 from 4. Wayne Randall continued on his merry way for CS with 3 Ben and Mickey Green got 2 but the skipper Newcastle what happened Newc? one win. (sounds like my footy tipping score). Brun?s Boys 8 Cunning Stunts 8.

Thought TT Rebels and X Men would be a nail bitter but not to be. For the Rebels the Captain had his worst night of the year with 1 and Paul failed to worry the scorers, Rob had a great night with 3. All the X Men fired with Terry 3 from 3, Silver 3 from 4 Dean W 3 from 4 and new recruit Kiwi Al Johnson 2 from 4 Edward only had the one game. The Rebels have tumbled out of the top 8 and the X Men have shot inro it. X Men 11 TT Rebels 5.

The premiership favourites the Eels were pushed all thew way by a confident Jaggers team. 2 all then 4 all but the Eels snuck away in the 2nd hald 3-1 in each set. Brent (pictured) starred for the Eels with all 4 Micker, Rob and Trent all got doubles. stacey is having a wonderful time of it and that continued with 3 with Annie 2 and Jude fresh from toppling Watty in the first round of the NSW tryouts on Sunday the other winner. Jaggers still in the top 8 and the Eels still on top. Eels 10 Jaggers 6.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: Two 100% efforts deserve recognition here Tarn for her career best and old timer Dean McDonald for his umpteenth 100% effort keeping his team in it for a while.

NAME AND SHAME LIST: Nil, this is all to much for me.

ROUND 7

Lots of one sided scores and a massive upset for round 7. Don?t forget no league next monday due to easter.

My boys (minus Willie who was holidaying in NZ) took on the Captains TT Rebels at Twin Towns. It was touch and go all the way through and a draw looked the most likely result but Kingsley lived up to his nick name of the King (Elvis??) and shot 4 from 4 to give us the edge and stay perched in 3rd spot. The Captain did best for his side with 3 and although beaten they are still in touch with the 8. Cellar Dwellers 10 TT Rebels 6.

Now for the upset of the night Farque with new recruit Gary playing only his second game took on the Geraghtys Heavyweights. It looked like same old same old for Farque at 3-5 down but they turned at 6all grabbed the lead at 7-6 and kept the pressure on to grab a season's first victory. Gary has settled into things and got 3 while the rest of the boys contributed with 2 each. Stevo and Rhino did all the work for the Heavyweights with 6 of their 7. Farcue 9 Heavyweights 7.

The X Men kept their top 8 chances alive with Eddie and Greg Dingle shooting the light out with Greg 4 and Edward 3 to put Dazed and Confused to the sword. The Dazed lot have recruited Neil so that will help their cause as he won 2 of their 4 wins. Actually the score line doesn?t tell the full story as a lot of the games could have gone either way and with Packo coming back the Dazed lot will be competitive for the rest of the season and the X Men need to string a few together. X Men 12 Dazed and Confused 4.

After a late start between the Eels and the Coolie Reno?s it was all one way traffic with only Dene H winning 2 and Josh 1 worrying the scorers for the Reno?s. Dene is off interstate next week for awhile so that leaves a huge gap to fill. The eels are cruising at the moment on top of the ladder and looking good. Still anything can happen in pool and usually does. Mickey Allan shot 100% for the Eels who bolted in. Eels 13 Coolie Reno?s 3.

Another game that was one way traffic was the Cunning stunts and Fisho?s Hustlers. 7 zip down Fisho?s team came back a bit with 3 of the last 5 but too little too late. Wayno and Ben shot 4 from 4 while Tomo won her first of the season and Fisho played his usual consistent self with 2 from 4. No Sticks tonight that doesn?t help. Cunning stunts 12 Hustlers 4.

Thought the Splinters Revenge lot would push the Tigers last night and when Deano got Watty in the first game it was all good. 5 straight losses later it was all bad. The Tigers kept the pedal to the metal after that and cruised in with only Dean and Don with 2 each holding their hands up. Paulie got the bacon shooing 3 from 3 in a return to form. Gav had a forgettable night though as did Geoof and Greenie for the losers. The Splinters lot are still in the 8 though and will be hard to beat from now on. Tigers still sit in 2nd spot. Tigers 11 Splinters Revenge 5.

Kerry?s Sea Masters got back on the winning way by snuffing out Live Wires easily. Jessica and Johnny (sounds like Bonnie and Clyde) held their hands up with 2 each but that was it, good to see young Kieren have a crack at 8 ball. Kerry is flying at the moment and won 4 yet again. Keeps them in the hunt for a top 8 finish. Sea Masters 12 Live Wires 4.

Not an upset exactly but the Bruns Boys have pushed themselves well into the 8 with a hard fought victory over Judes Jaggers. The first, second and fourth quarters were all 2 all jobs and it was only the 3-1 third quarter that made the difference. Skipper Peter Paynter let loose with his best form of the season with 4 with the other lads all putting in, while Jude had a bitch of a night for her with the other all sh0oting doubles. Good to see Annie back on track. Could be a costly loss for the Jaggers. Bruns Boys 9 Jaggers 7.

Last but not least the Flair Crew capably held together by the Malone twins ( 7 from 8 from Wayne and Grant helped a bit as well) and Irene all with doubles (Jacks back) just belted Tarns boys despite a master from Callum they never got warm. Brownie had a dodgey night and James wasn?t at his fluent best either for the losers. Flair Crew are putting themselves right up their for the moment. Flair Crwe 12 Tarns Boys 4.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tough choice this week but it has to go to the Bruns Boys skipper Peter Paynter (pictured) for his outstanding effort of 4 from 4 to lead the Bruns Boys to what could prove to be a cruicial win.

NAME AND SHAME LIST: Zip again this is getting to much for me.
